Whether it's for yourself or someone special, a watch makes a great gift. Very few gifts will do the job of looking great and performing a necessary function. A watch will make an even better gift when it is designed to show support for your favorite sports team.
NBA fans will enjoy a sports watch that is comfortable and has a logo with their favorite team on the watch face. You can take the design further and get coach series watches, player watches and even the very expensive looking team owner series watches. Most of these type of watches feature metal bands in either silver or titanium in the case of the coach and player watches and gold for the design of the owner's watch. Another kind of watch that will thrill anyone that loves basketball is a Schedule Watch. A Schedule Watch is the world's only watch that keeps you in touch with your favorite team and comes programmed with your team's schedule that includes all games, locations and start times. The watch is pre-programmed to play a melody at the beginning of each game as a reminder to stop whatever you're doing and tune in to the game. Additionally, the Schedule Watch is good for more than one season, it can be updated directly from the Internet at the beginning of each season. There is a small USB connector that hooks from the watch to your computer and will update with a click of your mouse. A throwback to more simple times that still makes a great gift is a pocket watch. The pocket watch has been making a fashion comeback and is becoming more and more popular every year. It will meld well with a business suit or tucked quickly in a pocket or purse when you're wearing more casual clothing. Like wrist watches, the pocket watches usually come in coach, player and owner editions so you can get exactly the metal style you want. Besides NBA, MLB, NHL and NFL emblazoned watches, you can also get a special timepiece for the NASCAR fan. If you or your gift recipient has a favorite driver on the NASCAR circuit, chances are good you can get a watch face imprinted with the car number to show your support for your favorite driver. No matter if you are looking for a gift for someone special or you'd like a special treat for yourself, a watch for the sports fan is always welcome. by: Game Day Zone

You can have a tailgate party for any season but football season brings out the best tailgate parties of all! If you've never thrown a tailgate party or you've been putting it off because you thought it would be too difficult to put together, it's easier than you think if you just do a little planning and it's even more fun when you enlist a little help from your guests.
Besides the game, food will be the central focus of your tailgate party and you'll want to have as many different types of munchies available for your guests as possible. There are two main ways that most people plan a tailgate party. You can either just invite your friends to the party location and do all the food preparation yourself; or you can enlist the help of your guests and ask each guest to bring one item to eat or drink. Most people find that when everyone contributes it's less work on the host or hostess and everyone gets a wider variety of things to eat. Common foods for a tailgate party include burgers and dogs cooked on a small portable grill; potato chips; tortilla and chips with hot and mild salsa; you can make corn on the cob and baked spuds on the grill. Cheese and crackers or celery sticks filled with creamed cheese are also commonplace at a tail gate party. Many people bring desserts that travel well from home such as brownies, fudge, and cookies or cake slices all make great choices for a tail gate party. Beverage choices are entirely up to you. Some locations where tailgate parties are held do not allow glass containers so if you choose beer and wine as part of your tailgate party, make sure you have a designated driver and also you will need plastic cups to pour your beverages into if your drink choices come in glass containers. Bring along a few large trash bags and if there are not trash receptacles where you're having your tailgate party, just pack your trash along with you and you can toss it when you get home. Never leave the party area a mess or you'll soon loose your location to meet and have any tailgate parties at all. It's easy to get a tailgate party together. Whether it is a college game, March Madness or an NFL playoff , gather up your gang and enjoy a fun tailgate party with all the trimmings. by: Game Day Zone

Is your game room just a room that has a pool table or maybe a dart board? You can rev up your game room and it feel like your in the stadium watching your favorite sports team with every game.
First of all update your decor. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to make your game room more than just a room to play a few games in and maybe catch your favorite sports team on the tube. High definition televisions also called HDTV have come down in price over the past couple of years and you can get a new one with a large sized screen for anywhere from two-hundred to five-hundred dollars depending on the screen size. Once you have your television updated, the rest of your game room will fall into place easily. Around your television, you'll want to have comfy seating. Your sofa can be made more team friendly with the addition of a throw that has your favorite team on it. Along with some pillows either licensed by the team or pillows you make yourself in team colors. If you're an NFL, NBA or MLB fan you can make additions to your room that show which team or teams you support. Add a banner with your favorite team or some people will add a banner for their favorite football, basketball and baseball teams on three different walls in their game room. You can leave your dart board up and you can update your pool table with a new hanging lamp that commemorates the sports team of your choice. Updating your window treatments is also not an expensive proposition. You can use your favorite team's two main colors as the colors for your draperies. Use the lighter colors for the draperies themselves and the darker colors for sheers so your room won't seem too dark. The darker sheers will also do the job of keeping the light glare to a minimum. If you have a small bar area in your game room, liven it up with a hanging swag lamp and also add in some etched sports team glasses that will jazz up your bar and also continue the sports team motif throughout your room. It's easy to update your room to show your support for your favorite team or teams, just start at one area and work outward and change a few things along the way and before you know it, you'll have the stadium feel in your game room. by: Game Day Zone

More and more families are reconnecting through making one room in their homes a game room. With hectic work schedules, busy school schedules and then you throw in extra curricular activities like scouts, sports and more - most families don't get to spend enough time together. Instead of sitting in front of the television silently watching a badly written sitcom more families are choosing to spend time interacting in their very own game rooms.
Whether it is just for your family or you're going to invite friends to play pool or watch a game, you'll need adequate seating. A good sized sofa is a good start for most game rooms and will adequate seat most families. Since many game room aren't too large - space will be a hot commodity in your room so beyond a sofa, you'll want to be choosy about your seating and choose seating for your game room that uses as little space as possible without compromising comfort. A tall slender bar table with backless stools that fit directly underneath the table will let you have ready seating without giving up any extra room space. Another great way to have impromptu temporary seating when you need it for a larger crowd that may be gathering to watch a game on the television in your game room is to have some fold up stools handy and you can take it step further and get stools licensed by your favorite sports team or teams to show your support. Spectator chairs are sturdy seating that you can fold up and away until needed. Many people get a set of these not only for their game rooms but also to have for tailgate parties as they are very durable and comfortable seating. These type of chairs are also usually licensed by sports teams so it's easy to have your favorite team in your game room or at the tailgate party. You can make your fold up chairs more comfortable for your guests by adding a chair pad to the seat. They aren't expensive to make yourself and anyone with basic sewing skills can manage it. You just need thin foam available at your local fabric store and then fabric to cover. You can hand sew or use a machine. If you lack time or have not confidence in your sewing skills you can purchase these ready made and licensed by your favorite sports teams. You have a lot of seating options for your game room, use your space wisely and you can have adequate seating for all your guests no matter how large your gathering is and everyone can have a comfortable seat in your game room. by: Game Day Zone

If you want to turn the area where you sleep and bathe into an homage for your favorite sports team, it's easy to do. Many people feel overwhelmed when they are attempting to make over a room, however it's easy if you just start with one item in the room and work outward.
Begin with your bed. First of all decide if you're going to go with an NBA, MLB, NFL or NASCAR motif in your room and then work from that. Start off with a dust ruffle on the box springs of your bed. It will not only look good, it will actually help add a sense of uniformity to your room. Next add sheets that are in either in your team's colors or emblazoned with your favorite team's logo. If you live in a cooler climate you may want to opt for a printed comforter. Next you can add pillows to your bed with pillow cases that are printed with your favorite team. Solid color accent pillows will make a nice contrast if you don't want every single item on your bed reflect a sports team. A throw printed with your favorite team will make a nice cover up when you're watching a game on television during the cooler months; plus it will add a fun accent to your bed. Your window treatments can be in solid colors that match one of the colors of your favorite sports team. Both in the bedroom and the bathroom will lend a sense of all over decor. Most sports teams have a light color and a dark color for their team colors; if your room is on the small side, opt for the lighter color as your accent color as light colors open up a small room. Rooms that are larger can use either color and if you want your room to feel a little more cozy - go for the darker color as your accent color as that will have the effect of bringing your walls in closer in the mind's eye and give your room a much more friendly and cozy feeling. Towels in your bathroom with your favorite sports team will show your support runs all the way through your abode. Since most bathrooms are small, opt for the lighter color of your favorite sports team as your accent color in the bathroom. Other small accents you can add in the bedroom and bathroom include rugs that are printed for the sports team or a solid color, posters, autographed and limited edition sports memorabilia and swag lamps. by: Game Day Zone

Is someone special having a birthday and you'd like to throw them a party to celebrate their special day? If they are a NASCAR fan, you can throw them a party that also includes their favorite sport.
First of all, if you don't already know - see if you can find out who their favorite car and driver is. Most NASCAR fans have their favs and their foes in the racing world. Either have a light discussion with the person yourself and be a sneak and turn the conversation to NASCAR so you can pick their brain; or ask their family members or other friends which of the NASCAR stars is their favorite from classic driving heroes such as Dale Earnhardt or Jeff Gordon to the great competitors of Kyle or Kurt Busch. Once you get that information, you can go forward with your party plans. If you're crafty you can design your invitations yourself and use the favorite car number on the cover. You can also set up a party plan at many websites for free and allow your guests to RSVP online. It's a convenient way to ensure that you get people who may forget to mail their RSVP to affirm their commitment to come to the birthday bash. Once you have your guest count, you can plan your food. You can either have a casual sit down meal or go smorgasbord and have a large selection of foods for everyone. Casual sit down meals don't have to be anything elaborate. You can make it simple as burgers and dogs on the grill or make it a little more special by serving steaks or grilled lobster tails. Many NASCAR stars have licensed their images and cars to party items such as plates, plastic ware and napkins. You can also find party clothes for tables emblazoned with your friend's NASCAR favorites. For easy clean up, a large trash can in a far corner will keep all the trash to a minimum and eliminate having to go around your room and pick up used plates, napkins and other party ware left by guests, most people will use a trash can if you provide it. The cake will be a breeze. Most bakeries have laser printers that use a computer to spray icing and any photo or other image can be custom re-created on any cake. Use an image of Dale Earnhardt and his famous black Number 3 car for an outstandingly designed cake. As far as a gift for your NASCAR fan, they will be thrilled with their own NASCAR jacket. Bobby Labonte for example, has licensed a sharp looking jacket that is available in both adult and children's sizes. A NASCAR watch is another great gift that will get a lot of use. Use these tips and the next birthday bash you need to plan for a NASCAR loving friend will come off without a hitch! by: Game Day Zone |
